Our student coaches don't hand out juice boxes. They run small groups, keep coaching trackers, and learn to give feedback that actually helps. It counts for service hours, and it's the kind of thing you can talk about in a college interview.
You get a real role
Each coach runs a group of about five campers with a tracker, so nobody gets missed.
You learn to coach
We use an I Like / Improve chart. You'll get good at naming what works before what doesn't.
You get the hours
Documented service hours, plus a reference from a certified educator who watched you work.
Coaching spots are limited too.
We take a small number of coaches each summer so every one of them gets real responsibility.
